  • Will insurance cover your services?

We suggest that you check into your insurance policy to determine whether or not the service you are seeking is covered. We are happy to help you navigate your policy. We direct bill to WCB, NIHB, Federal Blue Cross (RCMP, active military members, and veterans), Teachers' Blue Cross, and DCS. We do not currently direct bill to other private medical plans.
  • Do I need an appointment to try on footwear?
You don’t! You can stop by any time. We can measure your feet and get you into something that works for you. If you have hard-to-fit feet or a prescription for orthopaedic footwear, it might be wise to book an appointment, just to make sure our pedorthist has plenty of time to work with you to find the right fit.
  • Do you carry/recommend any off-the-shelf insoles?
Yes, we do! We recommend (and carry) half- and full-length insoles from Kneed that can help to address a wide range of issues.
  • How long is an assessment?
We book assessments for one hour to give you and our pedorthist ample time to discuss whatever issues you might be experiencing. Sometimes it may be slightly longer or shorter but it’s best to plan for an hour-long appointment.
  • Can I book an appointment at Shift Orthotics & Footwear if I don’t have a prescription?
You can! We are more than happy to book you in for an assessment to help you figure out what you might need. Footwear and off-the-shelf products require neither a prescription nor an appointment. You’re always welcome to just stop on by for items in the shop.

Not at all! Everyone is welcome to stop in and shop at Shift Orthotics & Footwear.

Absolutely! We’re happy to help anyone of any age.
  • Do your orthotics come with a warranty?

Feel free to call and book an appointment with us and we may even be able to refurbish your orthotics while you wait! If you have questions about whether your older orthotics should be refurbished or replaced, stop by and our pedorthist can take a look at them.

  • Do you make orthotics on-site?
We sure do! Our Canadian Certified Pedorthist has been manufacturing custom orthotics, via a variety of different methods, for over 15 years. She makes all of our custom orthotics in our in-clinic lab using the methods that she has found most effective. Our lab is just about 15 feet from the assessment room your appointment is in - it doesn’t get much more local than that! The added benefit of this is that, if adjustment or repair is ever required, we can do that for you without sending your orthotics away. We can also help to extend their life by refurbishing them to keep them functioning well until it’s time for your next pair.
  • Are your orthotics really custom-made?
They sure are. Our Canadian Certified Pedorthist manufactures them in our in-clinic lab. Their design and construction is based on all kinds of things: a plaster mold of your feet, your goals, your medical history, an examination of your feet and lower limbs, a gait analysis, and many more factors. We work with a wide range of materials for different purposes - shock and vibration absorption, energy return, extra plush for patients with arthritis or diabetes, etc. In other words, your orthotics will be 100% custom made for you.
